The Meaning of Holiday = Become More Productive in Reading

Holla! I went to Gramedia bookstore with my sister yesterday. As usual, I can't leave without buying some books first =D This time I bought Kedai 1001 Mimpi and three Korean theme books. Not to mention that I met two Korean girls there :D The urge to tell them about Indonesian authors who write korean theme books was there, but consider a few things, I paid my books and left =)

Here is the link to the book I bought, Kedai 1001 Mimpi - Valiant Budi. just in case you want to read the synopsis and interested to buy it, you might want to read reviews from other friends first in Goodreads. It's very helpful, though :D I didn't include the other three because I haven't found the links yet. I will update it here if I have found it.

By the way, I'm free from assignments and exams for a month or so, so I wish I can be more productive in reading and I'm going to rearrange my bookselves in the hope that I'll have some space to put my new books which by the way is getting more out of control from day to day.

A Brother's Journey : Bertahan Dari Siksaan Masa Kecil - Richard B.Pelzer

Judul : A Brother's Journey : Bertahan Dari Siksaan Masa Kecil
Penulis : Richard B.Pelzer
Tahun Terbit : 2005
Penerbit : Gramedia Pustaka Utama
Tebal : 272hal.
ISBN : 9792213651
Review :

Akhirnya Richard lah korban berikutnya.

MPH Bookstore

When I entered MPH at Gurney Plaza for the first time, I felt like,"Is it heaven?" Seriously, six days at Malaysia, two days at Kuala Lumpur and four days at Penang but I have no chance to visit Popular (Gurney Plaza, Penang) or Kinokuniya at suria KLCC because my sisters and boyfriend were too busy with buying clothes, goods and souvenirs for their friends and co-workers and it was clear that I am the one and only person among them that wanted to visit the bookstore so bad. But It's not me if I don't find a way, so I made a bargain with my sister so she would accompany me to go to the bookstore lol.

During our trip from KL to Genting Highland, the taxi driver kindly told us that there is a largest bookstore in KL named MPH bookstore and it is located in 1 Utama. But too bad it is too far from our hotel and it needs 30 minutes to go there by taxi. I really wanted to, but my parents were tired already and I will be a selfish daughter if I force them to go with me.

When we returned to Penang, I got a message from my bestie, ci San informed me that Popular bookstore located beside MPH bookstore. I was shocked and feel grateful at the same time because I made a good decision not to visited MPH at KL. I went to Gurney Plaza for the second time, since I didn't have a chance to explore the higher level in the first place because the mall was going to close soon at that time.

So, Like I said before, when I entered the MPH bookstore, I felt like I've entered heaven and it was no kidding! I was lucky enough to buy one book with a good price and the others are just fine. I was so tempted to buy more, but my sis kept telling me that no one will take those heavy books for me if I buy that much. lol Not that I can't carry it myself but you will be shocked if you see how many luggages that we have to take home =.=" so, here my babies are :

Though I haven't visited Popular yet, but I'm glad I have known that Penang isn't just about Char Koay Teow (Kwetiau) and hospitals but bookstores as well :)

Next trip to Malaysia is going to be more exciting than before! yeayy!

Pretty Face by Mary Hogan

Title : Pretty Face
Author : Mary Hogan
Publisher : HarperTeen
Edition language : English
Review :
Life is good when you can eat whatever you want to without worrying about gaining weight. But Hayley isn't the lucky girl who earned that trust from God. She loves to eat and have no self-control of herself when it comes to foods. It makes her easily gain weight and her mom is stressed out because she used to have the body like her daughter have now. Then she bought a special scale for Hayley just to remind her about her weight.

Hayley has a pretty face that makes people like her. But never love or any thing more intimate than that. However, her best friend Jackie is the opposite of her. Jackie has a perfect body and never gain weight no matter how much she eat everyday. Hayley has a crush on Drew, her friend at school. But she has no confidence at all when Drew asked her to go swimming at beach. What should Hayley do? Pretend that she can't swim instead of telling him the truth that she is ashamed of her body and she has no intention of showing it to Drew by wearing a bikini?

What will you do if your crush tell you that he might be in love with your bestfriend instead of you?
My advice is Go fishing. Find someone else. Because :
1. The feeling isn't mutual. So what is the point to keep the feeling?
Besides,
2. Your friendship with your best friend is way more important fighting over a man.

Hayley decided to spend her summer in Italy, the place where her mother's bestfriend lived with her family. Everything is different there. When Hayley could barely feel the warmth in her own country, she finds it so marvelous staying in the house looks like a castle and having a home rules. She promised herself to have a new life in Italy, begin from do the walking instead of riding or driving. What she got is a satisfaction because her body seems to follow the rhythm.

With all that hard works, Hayley began to feel free and not depressed. But one simple thing can ruin the whole thing. Therefore, we need a commitment in doing most of things and support from families.
"Tomorrow is a new beginning. Embrace the experience. Look forward, not behind."
I did the reading on my way from Penang to KL on the bus. I immediately liked the book because the idea was very unique and Hayley is so funny. But I'm a bit dissapointed in the end of the story. I feel like there is one important piece that lost in this story and without it the story is incomplete. However, I still enjoyed the reading.

Out of Town

Dear my sweetest blog,

I'm going aboard tomorrow morning with my family. Means I won't have a time to update any review from books I read. And besides, I haven't read any books yet in this January 2012. Compare to 2011-reading challenged which resulted 145 books I read, this time I don't want to be greedy anymore, so I challenged myself to only read 50 books this year.  I am not sure I will read so many books this year, since this is my last year at college and I'm 100% certain that I will be so busy doing my thesis.

I bought some books a few days ago, but I will upload it when I return from my trip. And hope I can visit Popular or Kinokuniya so I can buy some books there. ^v^

I'm gonna miss many thing for sure, but I'll try to catch up later on. I will be off from 4th to 9th Jan, but maybe I'll still on from my twitter or facebook, so see you there.
