Beautiful Disaster - Jamie McGuire

Title : Beautiful Disaster
Series : Beautiful #1
Author : Jamie McGuire
Date Read : January 28, 2013
Synopsis :
INTENSE. DANGEROUS. ADDICTIVE. Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand. Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Review :

"When I think about my future I see you."

I really enjoyed the story in the beginning, but then I get tired and even a bit annoyed because of the constant fight between Abby and Travis. I truly understand what Abby has been through in the past as his father is a bad news and Travis resembles him so much. I wouldn't argue about that because if I were her, I will do exactly the same as Abby and avoid Travis as much as I could. But Travis is Travis. He is not Abby's father. Travis never fell in love with any girl in his life. He fights for a living and often screws himself with different girls each time.
You're not her type," she hedged. Travis feigned insult. "I'm everyone's type!"
America is Abby's best friend and Travis's cousin Shepley's girlfriend as well, so Travis and Abby often hang out on the same places. When Travis met Abby for the first time, he was amused that Abby seems not trying to impress him just like most girls he meets would like to do. As a matter of fact, Abby tried to stay behind the shadow. However, Travis's eagle eyes noticed the raw diamond. Abby offers to be friends with Travis, not more than that. Funny thing is that Travis agreed. What matter is Travis Maddox never be friends with any girls.

"I don't want to sleep with you, Pidge. I like you too much."
"It's not that I'm not attracted to you, I just think you're better than that."

I like Travis, though. Sometimes Abby can be so stubborn and Travis can be so stupid. Travis is just like another guy who loves their girlfriend so much and can be very and even overprotective to Abby.  However, what makes me a bit tired is Abby and her drama. Whenever she has a fight with Travis, she just simply run away instead of facing it.
"You like Pigeon," he said defensively. "It's a dove, an attractive girl. a winning card in poker, take your pick. You're my Pigeon."
Overall I like this book, Travis' family gives so much warm to this book, America and Abby's friendship are so sweet, and I love the gay guy Flinch more than I thought. And although there are some inevitable conflicts in this book, but it's what makes each characters' personalities developed.
"When we met, something inside both of us had changed, and whatever that was, it made us need each other. For reasons unknown to me, I was his exception, and as much as I had tried to fight my feelings, he was mine."
